Course Description
Over the past ten years (or more) there have been significant updates to the codes and standards that govern concrete masonry materials, design, and construction. These changes lead to more efficient and cost-effective design. Hear about these changes and how you may need to update your project specifications to take advantage.
Learning Objectives
- Identify significant changes to masonry codes and standards, including updates to TMS 402/602 that impact the design and construction of concrete masonry
- Explain recent research findings that support increases in the specified compressive strength of masonry and the unit strength method for code compliance
- Describe revisions to ASTM C90 for loadbearing CMU that offer greater flexibility to designers, specifiers, and producers in meeting evolving project requirements
- Evaluate project specifications to determine necessary updates for implementing new codes and standards while maintaining cost-effective and competitive masonry design and construction
